"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline."

Daniel "purposed in his heart…"  (Daniel 1:8 / NKJV)

Paul "purposed in the Spirit…"   (Acts 19:21 / NKJV)

Jesus "set his face like a flint for Jerusalem…" (Isaiah 50:7; Luke 9:51)

 

The Spirit of God is aggressive, not passive.   It is powerful and disciplined.  It is purposeful.

 

Purpose in your heart today to take one of the following steps:

 

 To attend ALPHA, beginning February 3rd (1)

 

To "Stand in the Rain" (or any other Bible reading schedule (2)

 

To pray 15+ minutes per day (3)

 

To be baptized on May 16 (4)

 

To attend the next church membership class (5)

 

To begin attending LIFE Hour (6)

 

To join a small group (7)

 

To complete a spiritual gifts assessment and find where I can serve (8) - contact Franklyn Pfeil at 433-3571 for information

 

To volunteer at the Lockport C.A.R.E.S. emergency shelter (9) - call 433-5252 for information

 

To invite a neighbor, friend, or family member to (attend church, Guns & Grub, Eggstravaganza, Christmas Eve service, etc........) (10) - check upcoming events

 

To begin a lifestyle of consistent giving to the church (11)

 

To serve at Lockport Alliance Church (12)

Stand in the Rain is a 3-year Bible reading program. You can find the schedule here. Go to today's date in "year one" and then just keep on going. That's all there is to it.

We read the Bible with a purpose.
Isaiah 55:10-11 likens the Word of God to the rain, falling upon us and making us grow--closer to Jesus and more like Him every day:

As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
