LIFE Hour Classes

All LifeHour Classes begin at 9:45 am Sunday mornings

LIFE Hour classes concentrate on being a doer of the Word of God. The application of Scriptural principles regarding the things we deal with every day—relationships, parenting, prayer, discipleship, marriage, money, stress, etc.—is the focus.

The ALPHA course is tailored for the seeker with questions: Who is Jesus? What does His life mean for us today? Why did He die? What about the Bible? The Holy Spirit? God’s guidance for my life? ALPHA is also a way for the believer to review the essentials of his faith.

"Behold" will concentrate on the people of the Bible. We'll be looking closely at Abraham, Jacob, Ruth, David, Mephibosheth, Mary, Peter, Simeon, Anna, etc, etc.

But our concentration won't be on the stories of Abraham or Ruth or David or Mary. Rather, we will consider what part each character plays in the Story of Jesus Christ.

"Behold" is taught on various levels: the Bible beginner will gain a deepening love for the biblical Jesus, the real Jesus: the LORD God as revealed in scripture from Genesis to Revelation. The Bible veteran will delight to see the intricately woven threads of the Bible forming an ever-clearer portrait of the Messiah, the Christ.

Young, not-so-young, man, woman, boy, and girl are all welcome to attend. Bring a Bible and a pencil. The class is researched, written, taught, organized, produced, fretted over, prayed for, and broadcast to the world wide web by the team of Franklyn & Shelley Pfeil.

No matter which version of the Bible you have, it's a Picture Bible. Scripture is held together by repeated images, technically called "types," which are pictures of Christ to come, foreshadowing something about His heart, His cross, His kingdom:

These things were like a shadow of what was to come. But what is true and real has come and is found in Christ. (Colossians 2:17)

Types can be objects, persons, actions…anything that is typical of the King and Kingdom conditions. They are the Bible's most sophisticated and far-reaching prophecies.

Teaching with types is the primary teaching method of the Holy Spirit. So the Master Teacher's premise--that pictures teach-- will be the premise of "Cross Ties," a 9-month Bible course beginning September 14th.

The course is designed to teach anyone, at any level of Bible experience or Christian commitment. Bring a Bible, a pencil, and a friend.

The LIFtED UP Continuous Bible class is for doubters, seekers, novice Bible readers, and Bible veterans—anyone who wants to read the Bible from cover to cover in a year. The class goes to the heart of Scripture, looking for—and finding—Jesus on every page. Begin the class any time and you will read and study every book of the Bible in a year.

Stand in the Rain is a 3-year Bible reading program. You can find the schedule here. Go to today's date in "year one" and then just keep on going. That's all there is to it.

We read the Bible with a purpose.
Isaiah 55:10-11 likens the Word of God to the rain, falling upon us and making us grow--closer to Jesus and more like Him every day:

As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
