LOCKPORT
ALLIANCE CHURCH
In Christ we who are many
form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. - Romans 12:5
Can you tell your Mom and Dad "I love
you?" and can you tell them very often? It may not be hard for you
to say this, but it is very hard for most Thai people because of
their culture. They don't normally express their feelings with words
or actions, like a hug. But their love can be seen by working hard
and taking care of their parents. I am not ashamed to often tell my
parents "I love you" ever since I became a Christian when I was 23
years old. I am sure that Alliance women in Thailand are able to
express their feelings in words as well to give a hug to the ones
they love without any embarrassment.
The annual Alliance Women Ministries Christmas luncheon will
be on Saturday, December 6 at 12:00am. We will be dining at
The Vineyard, located in the Davison Road Plaza (formerly The
Davison Road Inn). The menu will feature three salads, rolls,
and coffee or tea. Dessert will be included. Our cost
will only be $12.00.
Joanne
Fricke Thuman is our guest speaker, who will be bringing us
up-to-date on their new ministry. They are moving to and
establishing a business in Niagara Falls and through it planning to
reach the inner city.
We will be receiving an offering for our MK, Alissa Mann, and
for the maintenance of the Guest Home in Burkina Faso, Africa.
Tickets may be purchased on November 19 & 26 in the foyer
following each service. Don’t miss out on this great time.
Secret Sisters is beginning again. Stop by the Front Porch
Ministries station to sign up.
You will each be given a ‘sister’ that you will have
the blessing to pray for and encourage. It is wonderful to have
someone that prays for you daily and is there to send you an
encouraging note from time to time. We’ll be keeping our ‘sister’s’
a secret; so don’t let anyone know who you have. Of course it may be
fun for you to guess as we go along. At the end of the program year,
we will reveal our ‘sisters’.
What are your responsibilities if you participate in
the Secret Sisters program?
1. Know that it is a commitment. The lady you are
assigned will be expecting you to uphold her in your prayers and she
should be able to rely on you for encouragement.
2. Pray daily for your sister. Get to know her needs
and her family’s needs so that you may pray specifically for them.
Remember that some requests may be confidential and should be
kept private.
3. Make an effort to get to know your sister.
Discretely discover the likes and dislikes of your sister. Know her
favorites. Find out all about her.
4. Be an encouragement to your sister. Send her cards,
notes or small gifts of encouragement.
5. Remember your sister on her special occasions. Don’t
forget to send cards for her birthday and anniversary or special
landmarks in your sister’s life.
6. Keep it a secret! Don’t let anyone know whom you
have. Leave your cards or notes on the secret sister table by the
Coffee Connection when no one is around or have someone else deliver
them.
Have fun and enjoy getting to know your sisters! You
can be the instrument that God has placed in this person’s life to
give them the encouragement they need right when they need it.
“A word spoken in due
season, how good it is!”
Proverbs 15:23.
Praying daily for your sister will strengthen you, and the
rewards can be immeasurable.
Stop by the Front Porch ministry station for a Secret
Sisters form. Be sure to
fill it out and drop it off at the Welcome Center before October
12th to be included in this rewarding ministry.
