LOCKPORT
ALLIANCE CHURCH
In Christ we who are many
form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. - Romans 12:5
The “M” shelf
is teeming with an infusion of Morris novels, authored by Gilbert
solely and also with his daughter Lynn Morris. A generous
contribution of “used “novels has extended the “House of Winslow
series” from volumes 15 through 40! The “American Century series” by
Gilbert has also been given to us. You will find the first six of
these seven titles recently shelved.
“The Creoles series” by Gilbert and Lynn Morris has four novels, The
Exiles The lmmortelles, The Alchemy and The Tapestry, which too have
been contributed. Additionally the Morris’ “Inheritance series,” the
continuing saga of Cheney and Shiloh, accounts for three more books
on our shelves.
Bodie and Brock Thoene fans will find several new titles. Books 1, 2
and 3 of “The Galway Chronicles, “books 1-4 of “The A.D. Chronicles”
and the singleton Shiloh Autumn are all recent contributions.
Similarity, readers of Laurine Snelling, and Beverly Lewis will see
some new books. Three added novels were of the “Daughters of
Blessing series” and of “The Heritage of Lancaster County.”
On the “Teens” shelf will be found six new purchases. Melody Carson,
the author of “the true color series”, has three works on our shelf,
color me lonely, color me jealous, and color me torn. The first two
selections deal with best friends, Jordan and Kara, who face
difficulties together as comrades and as foes. Issues of purity and
premarital sex in the third novel test the central character, Zoe.
Real life situations force her to evaluate her attitude in light of
temptation, peer pressure and cultural conditioning.
The well-known author of the “Face on the Milk Carton” novels,
Caroline B. Cooney, has written Diamonds in the Shadow. A family has
volunteered to house an African refuge family, and the American
teen-ager, Jared, is not disposed to sharing his bedroom.
Furthermore, he senses that evil has also arrived with the visitors.
Both families become unwittingly ensnared in a conspiracy.
Two novels from Paul McCusker’s “The Time Thriller Trilogy” are
available to our teens. Both written works have their setting in the
city of Fawlt Line. Eventually in Ripple Effect it becomes apparent
to one teenage resident, Elizabeth, who endures unexplained time
travel, that the city is a portal to alternate times. In the second
novel Out of Time , a hospitalized giant man, who is dressed in
medieval attire, ushers in a new incident. Fawlt Line, once again,
is witness to bizarre events.
Consider using this blessing. On Sunday our doors are open except at
11:00 am, which is when the Prayer Team is using the site. Do take
time to see what may have been added to the library’s collection.
There are donated random titles that have not been mentioned. Browse
the “of possible interest” table outside the library where you may
be enticed to borrow a DVD, CD, or a current release. At times
“free” books are placed on this table that you may want for your
personal library. Conversely, you may find that you have materials
on your shelf that you no longer use and may wish to donate it to
the LAC library. As a matter of fact, we are currently looking for a
concordance.
Our user’s policy requests that borrowed selections are logged on
the sheet near the door. Returns are placed in the box outside the
door. New books or series books may be taken out for a two-week
period. One series book in a series is to be borrowed at one time.
With the exception of reference books that do not leave, other loans
are for a four- week period.
