LOCKPORT
ALLIANCE CHURCH
In Christ we who are many
form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. - Romans 12:5

By Kitiya Murphy
Can you tell your Mom and Dad "I love you?" and can you tell them very often? It may not be hard for you to say this, but it is very hard for most Thai people because of their culture. They don't normally express their feelings with words or actions, like a hug. But their love can be seen by working hard and taking care of their parents. I am not ashamed to often tell my parents "I love you" ever since I became a Christian when I was 23 years old. I am sure that Alliance women in Thailand are able to express their feelings in words as well to give a hug to the ones they love without any embarrassment.
In Matthew 28:18–20, we read Christ’s charge
for us to go to the whole world and make disciples of all peoples—His
Commission to His followers. From its inception, The Alliance has taken
this command seriously. It’s one thing that sets us apart from other
missions-focused groups. Another unique part of being Alliance is giving
to a central fund that allows our missionary team and other workers to
minister without the hindrance of continually raising support.
Alliance missionaries, creative-access workers, and
others do not raise their own support. Instead, they depend on God to
supply their needs through the faithful giving of people in C&MA
churches to the Great Commission Fund.
The Great Commission Fund allows individual Alliance
people to participate in outreach to the world. Supporting the GCF is an
Alliance distinctive, part of what it means to be Alliance. In essence,
the Great Commission Fund is
your
fund.
As part of the Alliance
family, you have the great privilege of giving to the GCF. It’s your way
to reach the world for Christ. You participate, along with thousands of
other Alliance persons, in sending a team of missionaries and church
planters who minister on your behalf. What an awesome way to work
together! What a fantastic opportunity
to be involved in reaching lost people!
During the up-coming missions conference you will have the opportunity to be a part of reaching the world through the Great Commission Fund. Watch for more details coming soon.
In January, we will be hosting three visiting missionaries during the LAC Missions Conference.
Each missionary that visits LAC is given the
opportunity to choose any needed items from our “Missionary Closet” to
take for their personal or ministry use as our gift to them.
Please help us stock the “Closet” with
Items listed. Items donated
should be new, good quality merchandise.

Adopt a Missionary
LAC's Missions Committee would like to announce what is called "Adopt a Missionary Program". This program is developed to help encourage those who have been called to the Mission field. It involves choosing a missionary and his/her family, praying for them and their needs regularly, corresponding with them and sending birthday, anniversary and holiday greetings. In a nut shell - personally developing a relationship and reminding them they are thought of, loved and appreciated.
For more information regarding the "Adopt a Missionary" program please contact the church office.
